Step-by-Step: WordPress Blog

Create an account for a new WordPress account and blog. Then follow these simple steps:

• Edit Profile: your name
  • Enter your first and last name, then save
  • At bottom pf page, find the drop down box, choose the one formatted like “Your Name,” then save

• Edit Presentation: theme, extras, & sidebar widgets (under presentation tab)
  • Theme – click any theme you want to use
  • Extras – de-select “Snap preview” option (Ike says it’s annoying) & click Update Extras
  • Sidebar Widgets – drag & drop widgets into sidebar, drag again in sidebar to change order, then click Save

I want to learn how to set up blogs that become useful tools for myself and others.  

Initial activities

I chose this layout because curiosity got the best of me – it was one of the few I noticed that had something called “widgets.” I didn’t know what they were for WordPress and felt adventurous. Then I added various sidebar widgets, although I’m not completely clear what each are exactly but figured I’d discover soon enough!
